Now I'm not much of a one for fantasy dungeons, dragons, swords and sorcery tales and I won't deny that I was not sure about this 20 chapter story when I started reading. Too often the fantasy element seems to overcome the writer and the story becomes self indulgent. Not so with Coupe. D'Artagnon's writing is witty and very descriptive evoking a world that hovers between the real and the dreaming of the changelings.
The characters are well drawn (literally drawn on the IOMfAtS site!) and I found myself quickly caught up in their adventure and it's thrilling and surprising climax. This is the sort of story of which I wish that movies could be made, but "not in my lifetime" as they say. Great fun, and the first D'Artagnon I have read. I shall be reading more.
