Warnings about the violent nature of some of the events that occur in the earlier stages of this story are given by the author, and a few paragraphs are marked in red to alert readers who wish to skip over them. A sensitive thought, but Vlista writes so well and with such sympathy for Ian, the principle character of the story that my own feelings were that his concerns for his readers were unwarranted.
The writing is powerful and had my eyes full of tears on many occasions, not only because of the suffering, but also the caring and love of the characters that eventually offer a possible escape for Ian from his earlier years.
The characters in the story are full of life, very believable and are written in such a way as to leave you longing to hear what happened to many of them as they passed out of the principle story, and the worlds in which they move are portrayed with an authority that suggests some form of close involvement in such circles by the author.
I first read this story more than a year ago and enjoyed it just as much on second reading. There will definitely be more of Vlista appearing on these pages in the future.
